Make goals work for you
How many times were we told as kids to “shoot for the moon?”
While the idea is nice, sometimes large goals feel just out of reach. Like a weight loss goal where you’re supposed to lose 20 pounds, but there’s no guide for what to do in between your current weight and your goal weight.
“We must make the goal conform to the individual, rather than make the individual conform to the goal.”
And goals shouldn’t be so unattainable that they make our lives miserable. Right?
So why not break down large, audacious goals into smaller steps? There are plenty of benefits to smaller goals:
They’re easier to track.
They keep you motivated.
They allow you to experiment with different paths to success.
They’re easier to adapt as you change.
Our goals shouldn’t make us afraid of failure. Instead, goals should encourage us to try, fail, and then try again.
Because goals should be secondary to enjoying life.
